What the crawl depth checker measures
LinkJuice runs a breadth-first traversal of your internal-link graph from the homepage and assigns each page its true click depth. It then flags pages beyond depth 3 — especially money pages — and pages that are effectively unreachable, so you can pull them closer to the homepage with internal links.
- Click depth (hops from home) for every crawled URL
- Money pages sitting deeper than 3 clicks
- Effectively unreachable pages in the link graph
- Depth distribution across your whole site
Why click depth affects rankings
Pages close to the homepage inherit more internal PageRank and are crawled more frequently. A product or service page at depth 5 is practically invisible to Google compared with one at depth 2. Reducing depth is one of the highest-leverage internal-linking fixes — and it usually means adding a few links from shallow, high-authority pages.

- What is a good crawl depth?
- As a rule of thumb, important pages should sit within 3 clicks of the homepage. Beyond that, internal PageRank and crawl frequency drop sharply.
- How is click depth calculated?
- By the shortest internal-link path from the homepage to each page — a breadth-first traversal of your followed internal links.
- How do I reduce a page's depth?
- Add internal links to it from pages that are themselves shallow and well-linked (e.g. hub pages or the main navigation where appropriate).
- Is it free?
- Yes — the depth analysis runs free in your browser.
