My LinkJuice PageRank differs from Ahrefs internal link data

Post by ben_k »

I compared my LinkJuice internal PageRank scores against Ahrefs internal link data and they're quite different. Ahrefs says my category pages are strongest but LinkJuice shows my homepage and a blog post as top. Which should I trust?

Different tools use different algorithms and different data sources. Ahrefs uses its own crawl (which may be weeks old) and its own PageRank variant. LinkJuice uses your Screaming Frog crawl (current) with the standard PageRank algorithm. For internal link analysis, your fresh crawl data is almost certainly more accurate than Ahrefs's view of your internal links.

Trust the fresh data. Ahrefs crawls your site periodically and may have missed recent changes. Your Screaming Frog export is a snapshot of your actual current internal link structure. If your homepage and a specific blog post are topping the LinkJuice scores, check if that blog post has an unusually high number of inbound internal links — it might be linked from your navigation or many other posts.

Has anyone tried combining the LinkJuice export with a PageSpeed Insights run? We added CWV scores as a third column to the export and now we prioritise pages that have both poor internal linking AND poor Core Web Vitals — those are the ones crawlers struggle with most.

We do quarterly internal link audits now. The before/after comparison feature is genuinely useful — I can show my client a concrete 'your PageRank went from 0.4 to 1.1' for the target page after our linking sprint. Much easier to justify the work than just showing ranking screenshots.
