Best strategy to fix orphan pages found by LinkJuice

Post by claire_b »

LinkJuice found 47 orphan pages on my site — mostly old blog posts and landing pages. What's the most efficient strategy to fix these without creating low-quality forced links?

Prioritise orphans by traffic (check GA4 alongside your LinkJuice results). High-traffic orphans are your biggest wins.

For blog posts: add them to relevant category/tag pages and link to them from topically related posts using natural anchor text. For landing pages: consider adding a 'Related resources' section to your main service pages. For truly dead pages with no traffic: assess whether they should be consolidated (301) or simply removed from index (noindex+canonical to a live page).

Don't create forced links — every internal link should make sense for the reader.

Has anyone tried combining the LinkJuice export with a PageSpeed Insights run? We added CWV scores as a third column to the export and now we prioritise pages that have both poor internal linking AND poor Core Web Vitals — those are the ones crawlers struggle with most.

We do quarterly internal link audits now. The before/after comparison feature is genuinely useful — I can show my client a concrete 'your PageRank went from 0.4 to 1.1' for the target page after our linking sprint. Much easier to justify the work than just showing ranking screenshots.
