I've read about creating 'pillar' or 'hub' pages that link out to many supporting pages. Does this actually improve the supporting pages' rankings, and can I verify this with LinkJuice?

Yes, hub pages work — and LinkJuice is great for measuring the effect. Before building your hub, note the PageRank scores of your target supporting pages. After publishing the hub with links to them, re-run your LinkJuice analysis and compare.

A hub page with 30+ supporting links, itself linked from your homepage, can multiply the PageRank of each supporting page by 3-5x compared to the orphaned state. The effect is measurable within one crawl cycle.

Quick tip for anyone confused about orphans: filter out your pagination pages first (URLs with ?page= or /page/2/ patterns). These often show as orphans because the canonical points away from them, but they're not really missing links — they're just correctly de-indexed. Focus the orphan fix on unique content URLs only.
